Q: How much does it cost to join TSUG?
A: Nothing... You need to provide the Internet connection and your own computer for participation, but TSUG and the services we rely on are all FREE!
Q: What are the system requirements to participate?
A: You need to have hardware and software to support both SecondLife and LiveMeeting.
SL Requirements: http://secondlife.com/support/sysreqs.php
LM Requirements: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/livemeeting/HA102223281033.aspx
Q: What should I do to prepare for the meeting?
A: Make sure you have the required software installed and configured. You should run through the SL tutorial if you aren't already familiar with the environment. Before the meeting starts, bring both applications up so you can "Alt-Tab" between windows as needed.
Q: Where do I get the required software?
A: SecondLife can be downloaded from http://secondlife.com/support/downloads.php. LiveMeeting can downloaded from: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA101733831033.aspx.
Q: Do you provide food?
A: Uhhhh... This is virtual. Even if we do provide food it will only fill your avatar's stomach, not yours.
Q: How do I participate in the meeting?
A: Subscribe to user group at this site and follow instructions in the email that you will receive before each meeting. But here is the brief summary:
1. Bring up LM and SL using the links included in the email.
2. We will try to start directly at the noted time, so show up early if you'd like to socialize.
3. During presentations, please direct questions using the Chat window in SL or Q&A in LM.
4. Please mute your microphones during the meeting.
Q: Why do you use LiveMeeting? Isn't SecondLife enough?
A: Unfortunately, SecondLife doesn't have a good solution for the (important) demo portions of the meeting.
Q: Why do you use SecondLife? Isn't LiveMeeting enough?
A: LiveMeeting is great for presentations and demos but isn't good for the social aspects.
Q: Do you have raffle prizes?
A: Yes! We will give away prizes for first-life participants and possibly eventually for SecondLife avatars too.
Q: How do you select winners for the raffle?
A: The number of raffle prizes will be based on the number of participants. Following the meeting we will send an email asking for feedback on the meeting. Your completed survey will act as your entry in the raffle. Winners will be chosen at random, contacted via email and given their choice from our prize inventory. We will also post winners on our web site.
Q: What will you do if I register at TSUG-VE.COM?
A: We will use if to contact you with meeting information, survey requests, raffle winnings and other user group business. We will *NOT* release it to any third party or use it to spam members with product pitches or other commercial sales stuff.
Q: What if my question isn't answered above?
A: Contact us at info@tsug-ve.com and we'll try to answer it via email.
